Terms & Conditions
Thank you for choosing my home grooming service. These Terms & Conditions are in place to ensure the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of all dogs, and to allow me to provide the highest standard of care.
By booking an appointment, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
Booking Fee
A non-refundable booking fee of £30 is required at the time of booking to secure each appointment. Appointments are not confirmed until the booking fee has been received.
The booking fee will be deducted from your final bill on the day of the appointment. Booking fees are non-refundable and will be retained in the event of late cancellation, missed appointments, or failure to attend.
Payments
ayment for grooming services is due at the time of collection. I accept both cash and card payments. The closest ATM is located at Union Groceries on Prince Regent Lane.
If payment is not made by the end of the day, a late payment fee of £20 will be added to the outstanding balance. Continued non-payment may result in refusal of future bookings and may be reported as non-payment of services.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
A minimum of 48 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice will result in the loss of the £30 booking fee. Failure to attend an appointment without notice will also result in the loss of the booking fee.
Repeated missed appointments or late cancellations may result in refusal of future bookings.
Late Arrival
Please ensure you arrive on time for your appointment.
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, your appointment may be shortened to fit the remaining time available, and the groom that was booked may not be able to be completed.
In some cases, the appointment may need to be cancelled or rescheduled, and the booking fee may be forfeited. The full groom price may still apply.
Late Collection
Owners must collect their dogs promptly once notified that grooming is complete.
A 10-minute grace period is allowed. After this time, a late collection fee of £10 per 15 minutes will be charged.
Health & Welfare & Flea Policy
Dogs must be in good health and fit for grooming. Owners must inform me of any medical conditions, injuries, or sensitivities prior to the appointment.
Dogs should be up to date with flea treatments. If fleas are found during grooming, an additional £20 charge will be applied to cover the cost of specialist flea shampoo and additional cleaning of the grooming area.
In cases of severe infestation, grooming may be stopped immediately and the appointment rescheduled once the dog has been appropriately treated. In these circumstances, the booking fee will be forfeited.
If your dog becomes unwell during grooming, you will be contacted immediately.
In the event of an emergency, veterinary treatment may be sought if necessary. Any associated costs will be the responsibility of the owner.
Matting Policy
Your dog’s welfare is always my priority.
Where matting is present, I will spend up to 10 minutes attempting safe and humane de-matting. If matting is excessive, tight to the skin, or causing discomfort, your dog will be clipped short (shaved down) to remove the matting safely and humanely.
Additional charges will apply depending on coat condition, time required, and equipment wear.
Removing heavily matted coats may reveal skin irritation, sores, or underlying skin conditions that were hidden beneath the matting. Due to the close clipping required, there is an increased risk of minor nicks or irritation, although every care is taken to avoid this.
Dogs that are severely matted or not regularly groomed may experience stress or discomfort during grooming. Where necessary, a short shave-down will be carried out in the best interests of your dog’s welfare.
By booking an appointment, you acknowledge and accept that severely matted coats may require a short shave-down.
Prices quoted are based on dogs being maintained on a regular grooming schedule. Additional charges may apply for heavily soiled coats, excessive undercoat, or dogs requiring extra time beyond the standard grooming period.
Behaviour and Safety
Due to the intimate nature of the grooming process, and a pet’s tolerance for stress, strangers, or handling, some pets may become anxious or reactive during grooming.
I will complete as much of the groom as can be carried out safely for both the dog and groomer. However, if continuing the grooming service would present a risk to your dog’s emotional or physical wellbeing, or to the safety of the groomer, I reserve the right to discontinue the grooming session immediately and contact you to arrange collection of your dog.
If grooming is stopped for safety or welfare reasons, charges will apply for any work completed, and the booking fee will be forfeited.
Appropriate industry safety equipment may be used where necessary, including grooming loops, muzzles, and restraints.
By booking an appointment, you grant permission for the use of appropriate handling equipment where required to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of your pet and groomer.
Dogs with a known bite history must be disclosed prior to booking. Failure to disclose behavioural concerns may result in refusal of future services.
Senior Pets
Occasionally, grooming can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate existing ones. Please ensure your pet's profile is completed as fully as possible so I am aware of any known medical issues before starting the service.
Senior pets have a greater risk of injury during grooming. Every care will be taken, however I cannot be held responsible for injuries that may occur due to age-related conditions or underlying health issues.
If emergency veterinary treatment is required in the best interests of your pet, this will be at the owner's expense.
Puppies
Puppy grooming appointments are designed to introduce puppies to grooming in a calm, positive, and safe manner.
Progress through puppy grooming stages will depend on your puppy’s behaviour, confidence, and comfort levels.
Right to Refuse Service
I reserve the right to refuse or discontinue grooming services if:
A dog presents a risk to itself or others
A dog shows signs of illness
The owner fails to comply with these Terms & Conditions
Liability
Whilst every care is taken during grooming, the process involves the use of sharp tools and equipment. Minor nicks, skin irritation, or the discovery of pre-existing skin conditions may occasionally occur or become visible during grooming.
You will always be informed of anything noticed during the grooming process.
Agreement
By booking an appointment, you acknowledge and agree to these Terms & Conditions and understand that they are in place to protect the safety and wellbeing of all dogs and to ensure the smooth running of the grooming service.
Home Salon Policy
This is a home-based grooming salon. For safety and insurance reasons, owners are not permitted to remain on the premises during grooming unless previously agreed.
Photography Consent
Photographs of your dog may be taken before, during, or after grooming for record-keeping or promotional purposes. If you do not wish for your dog to be photographed, please inform me in writing.
